My Family, My Values
I come from a small and intimate family in Heze, Shandong. My parents aren’t strict, but they aren’t flaky either. They showed me how to work, how to be honest and how to treat people.
I once flunked an exam in high school and was just miserable. My mom told me, “Failing is part of learning.” “Stand up and try again.” His dad taught him the same lesson on a daily basis—he wakes up early, he helps others, and he never complains. What they said and did shaped me."
Even more, now that I study in Malaysia. A brief phone conversation with them has the power to soothe me after a stressful day. I want to make them proud, not in flowery, high-faluting language, but with real progress — stronger habits, better grades, and a better me. Those family values go with me everywhere."
